I like your capoeira video. I used to play capoeira myself a few years ago, getting through my batizado and gaining my first cord. They even gave me the nickname 'Careta' because I made strange faces while in the roda.
I don't know what it's like where you are, but I found the capoeira culture here very masculine, in an off-putting way. So much so that I eventually left after feeling quite uncomfortable. I'd love to go back, but the same people run the courses in both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
@ Nickety It's actually not like that at all in my group, thank god. The majority of our students are female, well at least here in Brooklyn. In Brasil and California, etc. there are definitely more men. They aren't the obnoxious testosterone filled kind though.
RaĆzes do Brasil is a remarkable group. I wish there was a chapter near you. Careta, that's a great sounding name. Mine is Lilica, it's actually the name for Babs Bunny from Looney Tunes in Portuguese.
Watching this I realized Capoeira is all about the illio-psoas. You'll be amazed by the increased range of your high kicks after a few weeks of PCP. It's coming from power generated by the deep internal muscles that most people never train properly. I'll give you some extra routines if you want to have overhead swinging kicks like hers.
The Peak Condition Project is a program created by wellness expert Patrick Reynolds and fitness trainer Chen Zhongtao. Using the simplest of materials, adherence to diet, classic kung-fu training techniques, and social networking, PCPers achieve the physiques they've always dreamed of.
